Agra, the former capital of Hindustan, is a city on the banks of the river Yamuna in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is 363 k west of the state capital, Lucknow, and 200 k south of the national capital New Delhi.

The Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum located in Agra. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1648, in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
