ANG KHANG

A three hour drive from Chiang Mai, Ang Khang Royal Agricultural Station is a demonstration site for planting and researching flowering plants, temperate fruit trees, vegetables and other crop under the patronage of King Bhumibol. Beautiful flower and bonsai gardens are tended alongside fruit, vegetables and herb gardens. The healthful produce of the Royal Angkhang Agricultural Station Project is available to purchase, depending on the season and is served in the local restaurant. It used to be an area of poppy growing for opium. The King’s idea was to provide a permanent opportunity for good jobs and education for the local hill people.
