SUKHOTHAI -ANCIENT CAPITAL OF SIAM

Sukhothai, the “Dawn of Happiness,” was founded in the 13th century on the fringe of the Khmer empire. Most likely between 1238 and 1257. It lasted until around 1438.

Located 427 kms (265 miles) north of Bangkok, Sukhothai was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.

This is a marvelous ruin and, along with Ayuthaya, devoid of people.
